Check Into Better Control

When it comes to control, Convia is the perfect fit for hotels. Consider these areas in your property that would benefit from a better deployment of energy management:

GUEST ROOM LIGHTING CONTROL
Convia lets you activate lighting levels throughout the hotel from the convenience of a PC with the Global Gateway, the application at the center of the Convia system. With the Gateway, managers can set room lighting levels to reflect turndown service from the front desk. Alternatively, a guest swiping a room key, activating an occupancy sensor in the room or touching a button on a switch or scene controller can trigger an event that changes lighting levels, opens or closes drapes, and returns the HVAC to the guest’s preferred set point.

BEDSIDE SCENE CONTROL
With Convia’s Scene Controller, a guest can adjust reading lights, close drapes, dim a bathroom night light, adjust light settings to watch a movie, activate the Do Not Disturb light in the hallway, and initiate “lights out” for sleeping.

IN-ROOM COFFEE POTS and IPOD DOCKS
Hotels can offer more peripherals without worry because Convia lets you manage plug load controls in unused rooms, while balancing load during peak use in occupied rooms.

BATHROOMS
Based on light levels and time of day, Convia can set dimmers for specific scenarios, such as turning on a night light when it’s dark, or dimming lights to accommodate early morning glare.

PUBLIC SPACES & HALLWAYS
Convia lets you set a typical lighting scheme based on available light and time of day, and lets you lower lighting for low-use times of day.

CONFERENCE ROOMS
Use Convia to pre-set lighting scenarios for a variety of different room uses and room configurations. An occupancy sensor can also be used to make sure lights and plug loads are shutdown and the temperature adjusted when the room is not in use.

RESTAURANTS, BANQUET AND DINING ROOMS
Convia lets restaurant and banquet managers establish the desired ambience and atmosphere in every area of the facility for every occasion with the touch of a button. Changes can be made at any time with the same ease. What’s more, banquet room lighting can be “rewired” within minutes to accommodate changing rooms sizes—no electrician required.

Better Understanding, Better Bottom Line

Hotel owners know the hospitality industry is one of high overheads. Convia’s integrated controls offer a way for hotel properties to increase energy efficiency and decrease maintenance and operational costs.

A variety of tools help ensure that a property can reduce the amount of electricity that is being used or wasted, through lighting control, plug load management, HVAC settings and Dynamic Load Balancing™. Reductions in power usage translate to lower utility bills, and can also qualify your hotel for tax incentives for green buildings available through many local, state and federal government initiatives.

Working with Convia’s innovative Dynamic Load Balancing software, facility managers are able to curtail power being used during peak demand periods. Power zones can be pre-programmed with a priority scheme and events can be programmed to reduce electrical load by a targeted percentage. When energy thresholds are exceeded, the Dynamic Load Balancing event can be executed to reduce lighting levels and HVAC loads in lower priority power areas in order to keep power usage below the targeted threshold.

Really Increase Real Estate Value

Convia may contribute as many as 23 points LEED® Certification, and according to CoStar, LEED Certified properties command higher premiums:

Convia Keeps On Giving

Convia Enabled components by Wiremold® are 100% re-usable. Plug-and-play installation means that the Convia system grows with a hotel. When it’s time to renovate, simply disconnect the components; when remodeling is complete, Convia gets re-installed and re-configured. Your original investment keeps working for you, no matter how many times you improve your property.

The most critical part of a hotel manager's job is to ensure maximum guest experience and retention while minimizing energy consumption. Convia Controls ultimately mean enjoying the benefits of an end-to-end energy management system: lower power usage and improved guest services.
